New background technique

I just had to use the Love You Much bundle for my January stamp club and knew that the two-tone background technique would be perfect for Valentine's Day. To create this look on your own you'll need two colors of craft ink, a heat tool, a spray bottle of water, wax paper and a paper towel. Apply the lightest ink color to your paper using the direct to paper method, leaving some uninked space. Set with a heat tool. Apply your second ink color allowing some of the first color to show through. Mist the card stock with water. Crumple up the wax paper and use it to move/remove the ink from the card stock. I found it helpful to "clean" my wax paper after pressing it in the ink (i.e., dab the wax paper on the paper towel). I also noticed that the crumpled wax paper went flat after a few dabs on the card stock so I highly recommend re-crumpling it occasionally for best results. When you get the look you want, you can heat set it or simply let it dry for 10-15 minutes.

A few other things I can share...The card stock will not lay flat once it gets wet. If you let the card stock dry on its own, it will flatten out without any problems. In fact, I could actually hear it flattening out while I worked on the other parts of this card. And for some real (messy) fun, sprinkle some Dazzling Diamonds on the background before the water dries. My suggestion: use the Diamonds very sparingly!
